Duplicate the lamp shape and scale it down vertically by dragging the top, center control handle down and the bottom center control handle upwards.

Duplicate the table top (the smaller ellipse). Bring the reflection shape to the front (Ctrl - F). Select both and Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes.

This creates a reflection that fits the contour of the table top. Bring the lamp shade and lamp base to the front.

Select the reflection, then select the Transparency Tool (the wineglass icon) and from the drop down list, select Linear . Reposition the directional fill path vertically so the starting point is a little before the top of the shape and the end is a little below it.

And here we are! OK so I skipped a few steps. It's not a perfect world.

I created the same wall shape with the same fill and added a dark green carpet. Then I made duplicates of the wall, and lamp base and added a Fractal Fill to the shapes and applied Flat, Mix Transparency to the fractal filled shapes to add texture.

So, what do you think? Is it convincing?
