Create two 22 pixel white
filled circles centered over the red and green circles.
Convert the circles to Editable Shapes (Arrange > Convert to Editable Shapes).
Using the Shape Editor Tool
and the arrow keys on your keyboard, select the bottom center control point and nudge it up past the center as shown.
Click the white distorted circle with the
Transparency Tool. Drag downward from the top a little past the bottom of the shape to apply a Linear Transparency. Repeat for both highlights. Group each circle and highlight.
You can see the two gems actual size in the upper right corner.
Make duplicates (Ctrl D or Edit > Duplicate
) of the two gems.
Position them as shown over the ends of the spirals.
This is a good opportunity to save your drawing and take a short eye break.
Using the Rectangle Tool, and holding down the Ctrl
key to constrain the rectangle to a square, add a 275 pixel square behind the colored elements.
