Select the mouth shape with the Contour Tool . Drag towards the center to apply an Inside Contour. Change the number of Steps to 1 and press Enter on your keyboard to apply the changes.

Change the Contour Width to 4pix and press Enter to apply the change.

Select the contour shape and from the Arrange menu, select Convert to Editable Shapes. Again, from the Arrange menu select Ungroup or press Ctrl U. (This disables the contour and allows us to edit the shapes individually).

Select all of the shapes by dragging a rectangular outline around them with the Selector Tool (the arrow pointer). This is known as "marquee selection". Apply a solid fill using the RGB values shown on the left.

Change the fill for the smaller eye circles and the smaller mouth shape to white by Shift selecting the three shapes and clicking the white color square on the screen palette with the left mouse button.

NOTE: To change a Fill color, click the left mouse button on any color on the screen palette. To change the Outline color, click with the right mouse button. To set an outline to no color right click on the cross hatched box to the left of the screen palette. Click with the left mouse button to set the fill color to none.

HOW TO: Fill the shapes with any color. Then click the tiny color wheel icon to the left of the screen palette to open the Color Editor . Select RGB Color Model from the drop down list of color models and enter the three values shown. The first value is red, the second is green and the last value is blue. The color will automatically update as each value is entered in the text entry boxes.

Select the two white eye circles and change the fill to RGB 153, 204, 255.

With the eyes selected, select the Fill Tool. From the drop down list of Fill Types on the Infobar, select Linear. Drag the ends of the fill path arrows until the white is at the top of the fill and the pale blue is on the bottom.

Repeat for the bottom mouth portion but reverse the direction so the pale blue is on top.

TIP: You can apply a Linear Fill without selecting Linear from the drop down list. Just click and drag. The fill starts with white and ends with the object's current fill color. You can drag either end of the fill path arrow in any direction.

Draw five evenly spaced vertical lines.

The easiest way to do this is to draw one vertical line with the Shape Editor Tool, then drag and drop (drag and click the right mouse button to drop a duplicate) four duplicates.

Select all five lines and open the Align Objects menu (Arrange > Alignment) and align the lines top and Distribute the lines Equi-spaced (Horizontal Positions drop down list).

With all five lines selected, select Convert Line to Shape from the Arrange menu. Again from the Arrange menu, select Join. The five lines are now actually five rectangles and not outlines anymore.

In case you are wondering why the dark pink color for the face? I tried to find a generic color that represented all races.
