Select the Fill Tool then select the contour shape. From the drop down list of Fill Types, select Conical.

Conical fills fill in a 360 degree sweep.

Drag the Conical fill path arrow as shown until the top and bottom control handles are perpendicular and the curved side of the fill faces left.

Click the top control handle and click Spring Green Cyan on the screen palette. Do the same to the bottom fill path control handle.

Drag and drop the same color onto the fill path arrow and repeat adding colors until you have two colors at the half way point, one half way to the bottom of the fill path, and one next to the bottom of the fill path as shown. Counting the top and bottom, you should have 6 separate colors.

Edit the colors using the Color Editor (press the color wheel icon to the left of the screen palette).

Change the colors as shown below. (Click a control handle then modify the RGB values).

Looks like glass already and this is only the 6th step!

Name and save your file and take a short eye break.

EYE TIP: Working for long periods of time at close range to the computer screen is bad for your eyes. Every fifteen minutes or whenever you think to do so, focus your eyes on something across the room for a little while. This helps to maintain the elasticity of your eye's focusing ability.

Set the text and contour shapes aside for the moment.

Using the Rectangle Tool draw a rectangle 600 pixels wide by 10 pixels tall.

TIP: If you enable Snap To Grid (right click on the page and select this from the pop up menu) it is easier to get the dimensions right. You can also enter the height and width on the Infobar in the Width and Height text entry boxes. Disable Snap to Grid when you are finished by selecting it again.

With the rectangle, and the Rectangle Tool still selected, select Curvature from the drop down list on the Infobar (shown on top of the illustration). Click the right-facing arrow until the amount shown is 0.7.
