Color the shapes using the colors shown.

NOTE: The blue of the United States flag is a deep blue and not the bright blue often seen.

To apply the RGB values shown on the left, press the small color wheel icon to the left of the screen palette to open the Color Editor . Select RGB Color Model from the drop down list and enter the red, green, and blue values in the R, G, and B text entry boxes. The values listed are in red, green, and blue order.

Brass grommets are inserted in the band at the left of the flag to attach the flag to the flagpole rope.

Create two circles, 10 and 6 pixels in diameter. Center the two circles.

Make a duplicate set of circles and Join Shapes (Arrange menu) to create an O-shape. Apply a two color Linear Fill using RGB 204, 255, 0 for the gold color and RGB 255, 255, 204 for the pale yellow. Drag the ends of the fill path arrow so the fill goes from top to bottom.

With the other set of circles, change the outline width for the larger circle to 1 point and to .5 point for the smaller circle. Convert both circles to shapes (Arrange > Convert Line to Shape ) and apply the fill color RGB 204, 153, 0. Using the Contour Tool, apply a Contour, To Inside to both circles. Center the two circles over the Joined circles and group them.

Make another 6 pixel circle and center it inside the grouped grommet.

Duplicate these and place one towards the top of the white band to the left of the flag, and one towards the bottom.

Select the top single 6 pixel circle and the white band and Combine Shapes > Subtract Shapes to remove the circle from the white band. Repeat this step to remove a section on the bottom of the band. Center the two grommets over the holes. Select all the flag elements and group them.

Name and save your drawing and take a short eye break.

TIP: We get so used to peering for hours on end into our computer screens. This is not good because our eyes begin to loose their ability to focus. From time to time, look away from your monitor and focus on something across the room.
