We will be using Pixels as our unit of measurement. To set up your page units for pixels, right click on the page and select Page Options from the pop up menu. In the Units tabbed section, select Pixels and change the Color Units to 0-255 (for RGB color).

In the Grid and Ruler tabbed section, change the Major Spacing amount to 100pix (type it exactly like this with no spaces) and the Number of Subdivisions to 10. Press OK to apply the settings.

Right click on the page and select Snap to Grid. Using the Rectangle Tool, create two squares as shown. Change the line weight for the smaller square by selecting 2 pt from the drop down list on the Infobar (at the top of the screen). Fill the larger square Yellow Orange by selecting the larger rectangle (with the Selector Tool--the arrow) and then clicking the yellow orange swatch on the screen palette.

NOTE: Clicking a color on the screen palette with the left mouse button applies a fill color to a selected object or text object. Clicking a color with the right button applies an outline color.

With the large rectangle selected, click the Curved Corners icon (the curved corner symbol) on the Infobar. From the drop down list of options, select Curvature (shown below) and press the arrow keys to reflect .1 or key in .1 in the text entry window.

NOTE: Xara's Infobar is context sensitive. Each time you select a tool, the Infobar changes to reflect the available options.

Select the smaller square and change the Curvature to .05.

If we rotate both squares 45 degrees, the two squares will look more like the traffic signs that we have here in the US.

Marquee select both squares (drag a rectangle around both with the Selector Tool). Either click again to shift into rotate/skew mode (the black bounding box handles change to arrows) and holding down the Ctrl key, drag one of the corner arrows to constrain the rotation to 45 degrees, or enter 45 in the Angle of Rotation text entry box on the Infobar. (It's the text entry box with the circular arrow symbol).
