We're coming down the home stretch.

Bring the cracked sphere and blend to the front (Ctrl f). It looks pretty impressive over the dark ominous background and we could easily stop here.

But we won't!

Ungroup the cracked sphere elements so the blend is not part of the group.

Clone the fractal cloud filled rectangle.

Apply an Elliptical, Stained Glass transparency and change the starting and ending values as shown here.

This moves the sphere back into the shadows a bit.

It also moves the flare blend back into the shadows which is not what we want.

Hold down the Alt key and click over the blend until the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen reads 1 Blend on Layer 1. Bring the blend to the front (Ctrl f).

And that just about does it.
