Convert the symbols to Editable Shapes (Arrange menu).

Select the Blend Tool and drag a line from the top left symbol to the top right symbol. Change the number of Blend Steps to 3 on the Infobar. Repeat for the next two rows.

Hold down the Ctrl key and select the top left symbol. Using the arrow keys, nudge it to the left as shown. Repeat and move the top right symbol the same distance to the right. Do the same for the bottom row as shown but not quite the same amount.

Select each blend group and Convert to Editable Shapes and Ungroup (Arrange menu).

Apply a red fill to the top left symbol. Select then top left symbol, then select the Fill Tool and select Circular Fill from the Fill Type drop-down menu.

Change the center color to red and then select Alt Rainbow from the Fill Effect drop-down menu. (Fade is the default setting).

Copy the fill (Ctrl-C ). Select all of the remaining symbols,  hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys and press v to Paste Attributes.

Select the bottom row of symbols and change the Fill Type to Diamond and rotate the fill 45 degrees as shown.
