From here on, I will just show the x and a to save screen space. All steps apply to all four letter shapes.

Clone (Ctrl K) the four letter shapes. Change the line weight to 12 points by selecting 12pt from the Set Line Width drop down  list on the Infobar. Change the line color to Indigo.

(Indigo is one of the named colors in the first part of the screen palette. If you do not know the color names, let the cursor rest over a color for a few seconds and a tool tip will appear with the color name).

To change the outline color, click the color on the screen palette with the right mouse button

Copy the Indigo letters to the clipboard (Ctrl C).

Select the Blend Tool. Click on the black x. Without releasing the mouse button, drag from the black x letter to the Indigo x. letters to apply a blend. Change the number of Blend Steps on the Infobar to 15. Press Enter on your keyboard to apply the changes.

Paste a copy of the Indigo letters onto the page using Shift Ctrl V (which places a copy in the exact position from which it was copied).

Change the line weight to 8pt and the outline color to Violet.

Select the new letters and make an in-place clone (Ctrl K ). Change the line weight to 2pt and the outline color to RGB 255, 153, 255.

HOW TO: To change the line color to an RGB color, right click the small color wheel icon to the left of the screen palette to open the Color Editor to the Local Line Color settings. From the Change Color Model drop down list, select RGB Color Model. Enter the RGB values in the corresponding text entry boxes. (The first value 255 is Red, the second 153 is Blue and the last 255 is Green).

NOTE: There is no need to press Enter here to apply the changes. The changes apply automatically as you make the modifications.
