I have used the black rectangle in these last illustrations to show how the neon text appears over a black or dark background. The effect we are going to create in this tutorial, looks best over a white background.

See if you can find another duplicate of the original black outline text somewhere. Remember I said we'd need several.

Make another duplicate and change the line width to 48pt and change the outline color to white.

Change the outline color for the other duplicate to Indigo and the line weight to 24pt.

Using the Blend Tool, drag from the white outline text to the Indigo text.

Change the number of blend steps on the Infobar from 5 to 50 and press Enter to apply the changes.

NOTE: While 5 steps is adequate for images to be displayed on the Web, if you intend to print out your image in higher resolution, more blend steps will produce a smoother transition.
