With the group selected, select the Freehand Tool. Press Create Brush on the Infobar at the top of the screen.
You have now made a brush which we can use to populate our barren landscape.
Select the Freehand Tool. Click the
Select An Existing Brush drop down list at the top of the screen and select the straight black line option. Using the Freehand Tool draw a series of wavy lines.
We'll use these lines to apply our
new grass brush.
Select one of the lines, select the
Freehand Tool, then select the new brush shape from the Select an Existing Brush drop down list.
The line will not look like much at this point. Change the line weight to 12 points (or higher). Now you
should see some even rows of grass.
Copy the line with the grass (Ctrl - C
) then Paste Attributes to the other lines (Shift - Ctrl - A).
Make the line weights heavier in front and thinner in the back to achieve depth.
Select the grass and shadow and group them.
