As the fill was pasted to the other ellipses, the width of the fill changed to the width of the ellipse. We now want to alter the shape of all the fills so they align seamlessly as shown on the left. One by one, select each ellipse, then change the screen display to Outline, adjust the circular fill fill path (the arrow) so the center is at the top left intersection of the guidelines and the end is at the bottom right intersection. When you finish all the fills will match.

NOTE: I have shown the guidelines on top (I have the power to do this) however in Xara the guidelines are hidden behind the object, hence the need to use Outline view mode.

Select the center ellipse, and every other ellipse (shown here in red). Modify the colors as shown and redefine the start and end of the fill path using the technique from the previous step.

Notice that by using this process the two fills appear as one sphere.

Neat trick huh? This was going to be the tutorial this month only when I got to this stage it looked like a hot air balloon and the rest is history!
