Using the Pen Tool , draw a rectangle than covers a 30 degree wedge of the circular shapes as shown.

HOW TO: To draw line segments with the Pen Tool just click the first and last points of the line. You can modify the points either with the Pen Tool or the Shape Editor Tool (the squiggly line icon). To add more line segments, continue to click. To close the shape, click the last anchor point atop the first.

Using the Ellipse Tool , and holding down the Ctrl key to constrain the ellipse to a perfect circle, create a 275 pixel diameter circle. Center the circle over the circles shape and bring the triangle to the front (Ctrl F).

TIP: Remember, you can change the horizontal and vertical dimensions of any selected object by altering its values on the Infobar.

Select the new circle and the triangle and from the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes. This step eliminates all of the circle shape except the portion beneath the triangle. And the triangle now has the same roundness as the circles shape.

Intersect Shapes is similar to ClipView except the contents of a ClipView object remain intact and editable and are merely masked.

Select the colored circles shape, X and the text, and from the Arrange menu, select Create Bitmap Copy. Select True Color (24-bit – 16.7 million colors) for the Color Depth and press Create. Place the non-bitmap version off to the side in case we need it later. If you have not already done so, name and save your file and take a short eye break. I'll wait for you on the next page when you return.
