The illustration on the left shows a 25-Step Blend of a 20% black circle and a white ellipse. I've made three duplicates, Converted them to Editable Shapes and Ungrouped the Blends. This creates a variety of snow flake shapes. The white ellipse is brighter because it is facing upward toward the light. The circle is facing us and so is darker. Cover the illustration with the snow flakes. Rotate random flakes as shown.
