Xara X. Glossary — M

Miter Join is one of the options available for line corners, contours and bevels.

All three examples were line corners work essentially the same for lines, contours and bevels. For more details, see Changing join style in the Xara Help files.

Mirroring is a term used by CorelDRAW to describe what Xara X refers to as flipping. The Flip Horizontally and Flip Vertically icons appear on the Infobar whenever a selection is made and the Selector Tool is selected. If there is no selection when the Selector Tool is selected, the flip icons are grayed out.

Mix is one of ten Transparency Types that are available when the Transparency Tool is selected. The color of the object mixes with the color of underlying objects. The effect is similar to spraying a thin coat of color (or paint) over underlying objects. To create an opaque object use Mix with 0% transparency. For more information on the Transparency Tool see WebXealot 21.

Mould Applying a Mold to an object allows it to be warped. Xara X supports two types of molds: Envelope molds have four curved sides and Perspective molds have four straight sides. Perspective molds can also be controlled using two vanishing points.

Mold Handles are used to control molds. They are very similar to point handles (also called Bezier Control handles).

The Mould Tool Infobar is a special context sensitive control bar which presents a series of options specific to the Mould Tool. For more information, on the Mould Tool and envelopes, see the Mould Tool overview in WebXealot 21.

Is anybody reading this? I asked this question last year at about this time and received a large volume of positive responses. (Of course persons not reading the WebXealot probably would not have responded).

But perhaps it is time to survey you splendid readers again because the responses have been dwindling making me discouraged and I have to ask myself if maybe the WebXealot has come to the end of the line?

Say it isn't so. Please use the response form on the next page to let me know you are out there and that the information presented in the WebXealot is important to you.

Your Editor (that's me), thanks you.
