When push comes to shove, you can always use the Push Tool to slide the contents of the screen around. If you haven't tried this go ahead and try it, I'll wait. See, instead of using the cumbersome scroll bars, you can get there faster with the Push Tool. Not only that, you can invoke the Push Tool by holding down the Alt key and pressing X. When you are where you want to be, press Alt X to return to the last tool you were using.

That's about it for the Push Tool.

But here are some dandy new controls that you folks with Wheel mouses can try.

Xara's Zoom Tool is pretty incredible. You can zoom from 10% to 25601% or close enough to see the highlight on a bugs eye, across the room.!

You can select a zoom increment from the Set Zoom Factor drop down list, or select the Zoom Tool and click in the center of the object which you want magnified and each click with jump to the next highest increment. For example, if you are currently at 200% and you click the Zoom Tool on the page, the zoom increases to 500%, click again and the zoom percentage jumps to 1000. You get the idea.

If you want to zoom in on a specific area, drag a rectangle with the Zoom Tool around the area you wish to magnify. Xara will zoom in on that particular area so fast it will make your head spin.

There are four buttons that appear when the Zoom Tool is selected, (the first two are always present on the Infobar) and they are: Previous Zoom, which zooms to the last zoom percentage from the current setting, Zoom to Drawing, which zooms in on all objects on the page and which is useful for finding missing objects which you inadvertantly placed off the page somewhere and can't locate, Zoom to Page, which zooms to fit the entire page in the window, and Zoom to Selection, which zooms in on whatever is currently selected. This even works with selected text. Select an e in some text and press Zoom to Selection. See?

Unless I miss my guess, I believe this finishes the Xara X Tools chapter. If I left any of the tools out, notify me at once so I can get them in the next issue before moving onward and upward.
