Did I mention that the checkers, rectangle, type, and drop shadow need to be grouped? If they are not already grouped, group them now.

OK Here comes the first in a series of repetitious steps.

Delete all but the first square. Select the square and the group of objects and from the Arrange menu select Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes. Everything is gone except what was directly beneath the first square.

Paste the squares and grouped objects back onto the page using Shift-Ctrl-V. Remove all the squares except the second square. Repeat the Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes.

You get the idea. Repeat this step until all of the squares have been used and you have eight separate overlapping sections.

When you've finished, name and Save your work. Take a short break and see if there's anything worth eating in the fridge.
