Don't forget SAVE, SAVE AND SAVE again.

If you're getting down hearted just set all layers to visible every now and then, just to see your masterpiece in all it's glory!

Do the same for major towns and cities. These are often BOLD and all capitals.

You can do another layer for geographically named areas. These tend to be italicised.

You can finish here or you can add further layers. i.e. beach, swamp, forests, woods, places of interest, contours, etc.. It depend how much detail you want to add. But add each feature to a new NAMED layer.

Save your work when you're finished adding features and you're happy with it.

Now save it again, using the "save as" feature but append a 2 to the name. This ensures you've got 2 versions.

To enhance the version not for export to Flash try the following.

Select the 10SEA layer. Select all (there should only be one group anyway). Select the fill tool (the bucket icon) and in the options bar (top) select fractal plasma from the drop down list. This will give the sea a better fill than a flat fill. Adjust the fill by dragging on the fill handles to suit your taste.

Now select the COAST layer and do the same as above.

I think you will agree that this gives the map a far better depth.

Finally you can add a final layer to create a border around your work. It also covers any scrappy overlapping lines at the edges.

If you're not interested in the export to Flash section then I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and learned some useful techniques. For those of you interested in the export to Flash section I'll continue.

(My computers just crashed but I'm back again now. SAVE> SAVE>SAVE.)

If you wish to continue with an export to Flash, save the file with the 2 prefix and revert to the original, non fractal filled file.
