Line Tips Online

Since the focus this month is on lines, it makes sense to feature tips this month that relate to lines.

To close a path (so you can apply a fill) select the path, select the Shape Editor Tool, then select one of the two open ends. Press Enter.

Path, and case, closed.

Even though there are not very many options for arrowheads, with a little imagination you can create some cool looking and decorative arrows.

Just because arrowheads cannot have two heads or two tails does  not mean you can't create one. Make two arrows and connect them back to back.

Create a freehand line logo and then add weight and round joins and caps to the line.

You can create an  outline effect by making two duplicate objects and applying heavier lines weights to the two duplicates. Make the middle object's outline white to create the appearance of a red outline. Round caps and joins creates a smoother line.

 

Here is a 4-way blend of four arrows. Place 4 arrows at right angles and blend from one to the other to the other. The Alt Rainbow option was used.

 

Adding round caps and joins to dashed lines creates little weiner-shaped borders.

Non-Xara-related TIP: Mara Nathanson offers this tip. The best cure for Bee stings and bug bites. Dip a Q-tip in bleach, and hold it on the bite area for about a minute. That's all it'll take to neutralize the sting or bite. But it needs to be done within the first hour of receiving the sting or bite to be effective. Try it. There will be no itching, swelling, or any other sting related symptoms.
