VOLUME 3 ISSUE 12 •  April 15, 2000

In this issue:

Well here it is, April already. Where has the year gone, I ask you. It's going to be Christmas before you know it. Speaking of Christmas...

And where you ask is Xara the Unnamed? Where indeed! Last I heard, Xara was still aiming to release in April. But April of what year remains to be seen. My guess is it's going to be May. I know we're all getting mighty anxious and tired of waiting. But for what it's worth, your editor (still me last time I checked) just wrapped up a review of Macromedia's FreeHand 9 for Communication Arts Magazine and in my humble opinion, it can't hold a candle to Xara X . Ooops, I mean, Xara the Unnamed. And Illustrator 9 will be released next month and guess what? They finally discovered Pixels! And they also discovered that not everybody needs Photoshop to create web graphics. Duh-ah, as the kids say.

Xara the New is going to be a winner and worth the wait. Gary Bouton, Xealot Magnifico and best-selling author of Photoshop books, has been asked to write a review of Xara Whateveryoucallit for Publish Magazine. And while your editor was a bit vexed at not having been asked to write the review, we hope Bouton's article will introduce Xara to  Photoshop users and the other readers of Publish.

There have been some glitches in Xara 3D 4 which are holding up its release, but last I heard Xara thought it would be ready by month's end. (We'll see!)

I have several swell items from auto f/x that I was going to give away this month, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Sorry, next month I'll make two of these available.

The Featured Artist for March is Dusan Kastelic a very talented fellow from Slovenia. His work is amusing and reminds your editor of Mad Magazine in its heyday. You don't want to miss this one. The April Trompe L'Oeil Room is about something and has received one or two nice responses from readers though for the life of me I can't remember what it was all about. Maybe someone could check it out and let me know.
