A Logo for Sandia Hills Realty

One of my first clients from the time we moved to Placitas, New Mexico is a real estate agent (they are called Realtors® now). My client has partnered with several other Realtors to form their own company called Sandia Hills Realty (Placitas is in the Sandia Mountain foothills). They asked me to create a logo for their new company and here is what I came up with.

SHR Logo Designs

I thought this first design would look good on a For Sale sign. I used Dmitry's SPX spiral generator application (available on the Xara Xone Shareware Page) to create a spiral to which I added a heavier line weight and flipped it horizontally and vertically to make the bottom portion of the S.

This S (the font is called French Script) had an nice elegance which I felt looked very upscale against a royal purple background.

I liked the simplicity and flow of this design. The negative space makes an S shape. Again this is a bold mark that would stand out on a For Sale sign.

The is a variation of the last design. I used the S-shaped outline portion of the two shapes, increased the line width to 12pt, and applied an Ellipse stroke shape to the two lines. This was my favorite design.

Another variation on the S-shape.

I used another spiral for this design and applied another stoke shape called Intestine (charming name) for the sun symbol. The ancient Anasazi people who lived in the Southwest portion of the United States from 800-1200 AD, used a similar spiral to indicate the sun which they carved into the sandstone rocks. The Anasazi also lived in and farmed corn in the same area that the real estate company will have their offices.

SHR Logo Designs

This design uses a calligraphic line to represent the outline of Sandia Mountain.

For this last design, I just used the calligraphic line again using an Ellipse stoke shape.

Which one do you think the client picked? (Yes, for once the client actually picked one of the designs!)
