However, just for completeness, in Guest tutorial 49, Paul Söderholm used a number of other software packages to edit and trace his scanned cartoon image before inserting into Xara for completion. Just to highlight that the final result is possible without ever leaving Xara, the original, unedited image used will be traced. Following the above procedure, the Xara trace is shown below and consists of just 88 shapes.
For full colour image tracing, the bitmap image used is shown below. This is a complex image that would test the tracers.
The settings used to trace this image in both applications are shown below. These settings were chosen to maximize the quality and accuracy of the traced image.
The traced results are shown on the next page and a zoomed in (to 100%) section of the traced image is shown for clarity:
