Guest Tutorial 53
By Xhris Introduction The recent release of Adobe Illustrator CS2 introduced a new feature that has created waves of hype and interest. The feature in question is the Live Trace, which can be used to convert bitmaps and other raster images into vector shape compilations. Many Xara users may realise that this sounds remarkably similar to the Bitmap Tracer that Xara has offered for the last decade. While Illustrator’s new Live Tracer is very good, the Xara Bitmap Tracer offers comparable output, and has done so for many years. Many people don’t seem to be aware of the range of effects the Xara tracer can produce. This tutorial will highlight some of them, discuss the controls, and compare the output to that of Illustrator’s Live Trace.
