Open the Bitmap Effects > Brightness and Contrast [and Color] dialog (Utilities pull down menu).

Increase the Brightness one tick to the right. Increase the Color three ticks to the right. Leave the Contrast setting as is. The window on the top right provides a preview of how the image will look. Press OK to apply the changes.

Wow! What a difference, eh? While the color looks brighter and more saturated, we have lost all the detail in the sky. Is it possible to have more definition in the sky without loosing the enhanced color?

Well yes and no. We can't really do much about the sky in this image, because it was very light to begin with, but by brightening the photo and bumping up the color, we sacrificed the sky and clouds.

But, if we can go into the Bitmap Gallery (located on the top right side of the Infobar at the top of the screen), we will find the original dark photo which we can use to beef up the clouds. Here's how.
