One of Xara 3D 4's most powerful features is the intuitive lighting and shadow controls. Three light sources (the colored arrows) can be dragged with the mouse in any direction and around any axis. The lighting changes are reflected in real time making it easy to tell when the lighting is just right. Double clicking on any of the three light sources opens the Color Editor where the color for each light can be modified.

The shadow arrow (the black and white striped arrow), determines where the shadow is placed on the background color or texture. The shadow may also be modified in a separate dialog to increase or decrease the sharpness, and/or to alter the color and transparency.
