Add a .5pt black outline to the shape. Select the shape with the Fill Tool and select Four Color from the Fill Type drop down list. Rotate the fill so that it is a diamond shape and about the same shape as one of the diamond shaped sections of the knot.
Select the knot with the Contour Tool. Apply an Outer contour and change the Contour Width to 2pix.
