When you are drawing chrome, remember that it is impossible to draw chrome (!) - it has virtually no properties that you can reproduce. What you are drawing is the environment around your chrome object that is reflected in the chrome, and it is how well you draw these reflections that determines the eventual perceived shape of the object you have drawn. Both the hubcaps and the VW badge on the front of the van are the same lovely shiny chrome, but the badge is slightly elevated so, in this perspective, it looks different as it is mostly reflecting just blue sky - only the edges give you an indication that there are areas outside of your view that are reflected off its surface.
