A couple of days later I decided to just push it a little more. I got the bitmap above and played with slight color changes and then put a copy of it on top. I made this copy transparent with a Linear, Stained Glass, Repeating. I then added stars and a Fractal Cloud fill over the moon. The colors for the cloud fill was taken from the dark part of the sky and the blue cloud, also it was feathered.

I then gave it a Mix transparency. I don't know if it is 'better' but I think I like it more than the one above. The cloud is maybe too blue?

Giving something a frame always makes it look better. I will call this one 'Sailing by Moonlight' enough...........!
