Step-By-Step
Smiley Mom needs a hat to accessorize her Mom’s Day outfit. Draw three small ellipses and two larger ones. To compensate for Xara’s limited Fountain Fill capabilities, draw four rectangles (as shown) to the width of the small ellipses. Fill each as shown with the dark portion of the fill in the middle. Group the top gold fills (the hat crown) and the purple fills (the hat band).
Center each fill group as shown in the top example (right). Apply a default Mould Envelope and use the Bezier handles to shape the two groups. This takes a little patience but gets easier once you get the hang of it.
