New Years 1997 I might have started out with this image, instead of ending the gallery with it. But it seemed fitting to wish all of you old and new Xara users a Happy New Year and, if I hear it one more time I might go postal, Happy New Millennium.

Having had the honor and privilege to work with some of the best commercial photographers in the country, I learned a lot about lighting. For example, to achieve the nice white rectangular highlights on the glass, a photographer would spend hours bouncing light off white cards placed just outside the camera's view. I try to recreate these highlights when creating realistic illustrations like this. Xara's gradient transparency makes it faster than easier than using lights, cards and camera.

The image is from the January 1997 Trompe L'Oeil Room tutorial. And as often is the case, found it's way into an article for Corel Magazine Germany.

That's it! Thanks for dropping in and I hope to see you around the Trompe L'Oeil Room , and the XaraXone.

NOTE: I sometimes poke fun at CorelDRAW but in all honesty, CorelDRAW is the next best thing to Xara :-)
