JULY 2009 - ANJNA MASTER
After finishing school at the beginning of the 90's, I gained a place at what was then Wimbledon School of Art, which has since gone to be a part of
the University Of Arts, London. I completed a Foundation course there which enabled me to explore a variety of art based disciplines such as Graphics, Ceramics, Stage design amongst many others.
At this point, the computer age was yet to dawn and everything we did was done the "old fashioned" way, with paints, pencils and paper. Upon
graduating, I left and went to on work in totally non-related fields for the next seventeen years. During this time, although my creative flair
remained, I kept dismissing the idea of ever returning to design as a career. The field of design seemed to have moved on at such a rapid pace in the interim, and having no
knowledge or skill whatsoever with the computer technology and software most design seemed to be done on in the present, I felt like my skills were antiquated and close to being
regarded as obsolete—how could I possibly catch up and compete with those who had been taught such things as a matter of course and were so well versed in the plethora of design programmes out there?
Eventually, at the end of 2007, I grew tired of wondering "what if?" and running the internal
dialogue expressed above. Conveniently, this came at a time when I also felt a change of career was called for, so I decided to give it a go and teach myself. No matter how it worked
out, at least I would know I had tried and thus reach a definitive answer about whether I had a future in design. I looked at the biggest software name available for design and illustration
purposes, but eventually I found Xara Xtreme Pro. I started working with it at the beginning of 2008, teaching myself from absolute scratch how to use it and with patience, application
and time, within the space of nine months, I had put together a portfolio of work I was happy with. Not only was I thrilled with what I could create using Xara and how easy it was to get
to grips with, I was also happy to have found a "homegrown" product which, having tried its bigger named rival once or twice in the mean time, I think is definitely the David to their
Goliath. Just as able yet so much more superior in its user friendliness, Xara is a great product, it's as simple as that!
Being a girly girl, I tend to come up with images that make me and other such girly girls smile and feel good! That is the beauty of the world, there will always be enough room for
something feminine, vibrant, soft, light, fluffy, charming and fun. So colour me here.
Xara makes several graphics products and all of them are fun and easy to use. And Xara
makes this site possible so it would be nice if you just went to these pages and had a look see. Thanks.
