The Glass Eye User's Guide

The Glass Eye is software to help make stained glass patterns (from – Dragonfly software ). I took the logo, which is the eye, and built a whole window in a kind of Frank Lloyd Wright style around it. I had done some stained glass myself, so I knew what it needed to be realistic, including some lead strips that were wider for support.

Xara's fractal clouds transparency allowed me to create the clouds—but more than that, it even allows me to give the gold and orange glass a feeling that was very true to stained glass, something almost impossible to do in other vector drawing programs, and really impossible to do with this kind of speed and ease.

I used Bitstream Geometric 231 (original Kabel) for the type). I also took advantage of Xara's "Show printer colors" to make sure that the colors I saw on my screen where the colors that would print —especially important because otherwise things can appear blue on screen and print as purple!
