Biography
My name is Derek Cooper
and by the time you read
this I will be 58 years old. I
live and work as a graphic
artist in a fairly quiet corner
of Birmingham on the edge
of its Jewellery Quarter.
'Brum' is Britain's Second
City, whatever that means,
and it's a modern and dare I
say it, vibrant city, now, and
a good place to live and
work.
It was pretty much
decimated during the WW2
and then further and more
recently destroyed by the city planners of the 1960's. But now it's defiantly
risen from the ashes.
What else can I tell you? I'm married with three grown up children, one
suddenly with children of his own, which makes me a Grandad! (though I still
feel about 25—but only in my head). We have three dogs and a cat, a large
Iguana and a few other things for which I blame my wife Ruth who has been a
Veterinary Nurse for the last 40 years and brings her work home with her.
We've never enough money for any of it, so we’re pretty much like everyone
else there.
I've been using Xara products since Xara Studio which was about 1996 and it
caters for nearly all of my day-to-day needs. I draw with it, I paint with it and
if I find something it can't do, I work around the problem with it. Usually to a
reasonably successful conclusion. I do all this in a room of my house or at a
table in the garden during the warm afternoon in July we call summer here in
England.
Apart from my bank account details I can't think of anything else to tell you,
so thanks for reading.
