Ebony Art I The drawing is a representation of contemporary dance. It was done on commission from DanceArt.com in preparation for Black History Month.

This drawing was done entirely in Xara. The figure is composed of over 400 individual objects. The file contains many advanced fills and transparencies to simulate a 3 dimensional effect.

First I outline the body shape and used a graduated skin tone fills. As you can tell in this drawing transparencies are very effective — notice the yellow skirt.

After building up the layers to complete the figures I then chose a fractal fill background overlaid in a number of transparencies to achieve light ambience and direction.
