I want the firecracker to look like one of those constellation images you see in astronomy books where they hi lite three stars and then show a complete outline of Neptune! I also want to imitate the glassy look of these illustrations. First group all of the elements for the front section and then the back section of the firecracker. Add a solid white fill and then apply a Linear Transparency stretching the fill indicator arrows as shown here. This gives the firecracker a glassy look.
If you plan to use this image on your web page add a duplicate shape containing the background fill like we did on the button and sandwich it between the transparent top and background color.
