i/us -- The September 97 Salon Page 14

Here’s a special bonus. Chris Dickman asked me to create some banners to publicize our favorite web community. This one is actually 200% because at actual size it is too difficult to see the details. I created the button using the first technique of this tutorial to create the bevels. I placed the i/us logo in the right half of the button. I rotated and duplicated the logo using the dot of the i for the rotation center. I made eight copies of the button (with the rotated logos) then removed all but the appropriate logo in each frame of the rotation sequence. I made duplicates of all the buttons where the logo extended beyond the button’s border, and selected the logo and duplicate and Combined Shapes--Intersect Shapes. This eliminated all the logo but the portion within the button.

Here’s the finished button. I used Gif Construction Set from Alchemy Mindworks to edit the frames, mainly adding extra time on the first and last two frames. Feel free to download this logo and put it on your web site, linking it to www.i-us.com of course.

Sorry there is no big finish this month. If you downloaded the tutorial, please e-mail me (click here to e-mail me) so I can gauge how many people are using this option. Finally, the book is coming along splendidly. Many of these tutorials will be presented in Draw 7 and Draw 8 format, so you folks using Draw won’t have to translate from Xara. The book is titled Corel Studio Techniques, and will be released around December by Osborne--Corel Press.

Til next month.
