The chick’s tiny beak is very soft and translucent. We’ll use two very pale orangey-pink colors for the beak. Create a beak shape, like the one here. Make a duplicate, resize it, and use the Shape Tool to conform it to the top and left side of the large beak. Apply a 25-Step Blend. Draw a soft triangular shape for the lower beak and apply a Circular Fill. Create a thin ellipse and apply the same fill for the raised cover of the nostril. Place a duplicate of the nostril behind the original, give it a slightly darker solid pink fill, and offset it slight down and right. Finally, create a small ellipse for the nostril opening and apply an Elliptical Fill of darker pink and light brown.
