I usually start out with the following values: Master Hue -14, Saturation 24; Reds Hue 14. These setting are a good starting point when you need to correct skin tones. Next we increase the contrast by adding a curves adjustment layer. If you need to do some color correction then go through the channels one by one, but we will leave that topic for another session (color correction with curves is the easiest way to destroy a picture if you don't know what you are doing). Instead what we will do for now is to adjust the contrast by making an S-shaped RGB-curve. It doesn't matter if we overdo it slightly, that can be fixed by decreasing the opacity of the adjustment layer (I usually set the opacity to about 80%, but this can be set down to about 40% or less).
