Open a new animation file in Xara X (File > New Animation...), and in Utilities > Options > Grid and Ruler tabbed section set grid to 100pix, and the subdivisions to 10. In the General tabbed section, set the Nudge
distance to 1pix.
In the Window menu, select Show grid, and enable Snap to Grid. It is best to keep the lines as thin as possible, so every now and then do Ctrl A (Select All) and set the line width to 0.25pt.
First we will create the shapes used in the engine.
Ctrl-Drag a circle to 200 pixels, then using the QuickShape Tool, drag out a 3-sided triangle/star from the centre of the circle. Drag the left control point
towards the center. Double click on any of the end control points with the QuickShape Tool to round the ends of the star.
TIP: Hold down the Shift key to constrain the circle and star to be drawn from the center.
